Why Fall Is the Perfect Time to Protect Your Windshield with Windshield Protection Film

Summer may be over, but your windshield still faces damage every time you hit the road. Loose gravel, rocks, construction debris, and highway driving can quickly turn one small impact into a chip or crack.

Fall is a great time to prepare your vehicle for the road ahead with Windshield Protection Film (WPF).

What Is Windshield Protection Film?

Windshield Protection Film, sometimes called windshield PPF, is a clear protective film installed on the exterior of your windshield.

At SWT Window Tinting, we install Solar Gard Clearshield® WPF, an optically clear, impact-resistant film designed to help protect your windshield from rocks and road debris.

Unlike windshield tint, which is mainly used for heat and glare reduction, WPF is designed primarily to protect the glass itself.

Why Install WPF This Fall?

Highway driving, road construction, loose gravel, and fall and winter road trips can all expose your windshield to unexpected impacts.

WPF is especially worth considering if you commute regularly, spend a lot of time on the freeway, or have a newer vehicle with an expensive windshield.

Modern windshield replacement can also involve more than replacing the glass. Many newer vehicles have cameras and sensors connected to the windshield, which may require recalibration after replacement.

Adding protection before the first chip happens can help reduce the risk of an expensive and inconvenient repair.

Clear Protection You Barely Notice

Solar Gard Clearshield® WPF is designed to protect without noticeably changing the appearance of your windshield. It allows approximately 89% of visible light through and blocks more than 99% of UV rays.

The film is also designed to withstand regular windshield-wiper use.

While no film can guarantee that a windshield will never chip or crack, WPF provides an additional layer of defense against everyday road hazards.

Backed by Solar Gard Warranty

Clearshield® WPF is backed by a 12-month/12,000-mile manufacturer’s warranty, whichever comes first. The warranty covers qualifying manufacturing defects such as bubbling, peeling, cracking, yellowing, delamination, and adhesive failure when the film is installed by an authorized Solar Gard dealer.

It’s added peace of mind that your windshield protection is backed by a trusted manufacturer and authorized installer.

Protect Your Windshield Before the Damage Happens

A rock chip can happen in seconds. Windshield Protection Film gives your glass an extra layer of protection before it does.
